UK troops are set to join US forces to combat ISIS in Syria.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Defence said troops would take part in the fight against the terrorist group.
“We welcome the UK Government’s commitment to join with the United States in the global fight against ISIS,” said a spokesman.
“This will contribute to strengthening the global coalition against ISIS and will give our armed forces a fighting edge over those who wish to strike Britain and Europe.”
The UK is one of several countries, including the US and France, that have already deployed troops to Syria.
The UK has also pledged £1.3 billion in aid to the fight.
The US has committed to providing 1,000 troops to Iraq, while France has committed 400.
The US has also said it would send 1,500 troops to support the Kurdish-led forces in Syria in a bid to “fight Daesh in all its forms”.
